The Bia East constituency was established in 2012 and is regarded a stronghold for the National Democratic Congress.
 
In the 2016 elections, the seat was won by Honorable Acheampong, who successfully retained it in 2020, securing 12913 votes, which accounted for 54.68% of the total votes cast.
