About This Constituency

The seat is located within the Sefwi-Akontombra District of the Western North Region, formally part of Western Region of Ghana.

It was formed prior to the 2004 December presidential and parliamentary elections by the division of the old Sefwi-Wiawso constituency into the new Sefwi-Akontombra and Sefwi-Wiawso constituencies

The Sefwi Akontombra constituency can be considered a swing seat, as both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have held it at different times.

The seat for the constituency, created in 2004, was held by the NDC in 3 elections until 2016 when it switched to the NPP.

Currently, the seat is held by the NPP, with Honourable Djornobuah winning by a narrow margin. HE received 17,976 votes, which is 54.9% of the total, while his NDC opponent garnered 14,553 votes, accounting for 44.4%.
